Musical Background:
             

Rich has over 30 years of playing experience, which has taken him all over the United States and abroad.  He began teaching in 1989 and has been at Sac Valley Guitar since February 2009.

Rich began as a drummer, receiving considerable education in many styles before embarking on a pro career. Fascinated with the inner workings of the rhythm section, Rich taught himself guitar and bass along the way. While his drumming career came to a close in the late '90s, his interest in guitar, bass and songwriting effloresced.  Rich enjoys, studies and teaches just about every style of guitar music from the 1930's to present day.

Instructional Method:

Rich teaches fundamentals and theory using examples from modern popular music and its roots. Students learn to work with scales and chords, receive a primer in sight reading and garner the “tricks” necessary to explore their favorite music—as well as compose their own.
